Breaking through Barriers: How regionalism and “coopertition” can improve organizations and create fertile ground for technology startups.

It is not news that resources are fewer, challenges greater, and the future is more uncertain than ever for public organizations. The current economic landscape is enough to drive any organization to view the world as a zero-sum scenario – if we want more revenue, jobs, and business for our community, we must take them from someone else. But at a time when job creation and economic development are more important than ever before, successful organizations must look past historical parochialism and work with their neighbors to create fertile ground for new economic growth.

The i-GATE Innovation Hub partnership aligns entities in non-traditional collaborations which can often seem at odds – cities, businesses, academic institutions, federal laboratories, and state government – in order to maximize the potential for job creation and economic vitality across the region.

From this presentation, you will learn:
• How ten regional cities are creating their own economic futures through broad regionalism
• How non-traditional partnerships can tap into unimagined potential for economic growth
• How collaboration can create a region that is more than the sum of its (municipal) parts
