Downtown Walking Tour.
7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 4
Greenville’s Economic Development staff
will lead a walking tour of Downtown Greenville projects and landmarks, beginning at the Greenville Commons (location of Hyatt Regency-Greenville hotel) with breakfast and an overview briefing on the recent history of downtown Greenville. The small-group walking tour will cover the many public and private investments which have turned Downtown Greenville into a national-award-winning model for sustainable redevelopment. The tour route, which runs downhill for approximately ½ mile, will conclude at the West End Market, where buses will pick up tour participants for transport to the Carolina First Center.
University/Business Partnerships Tour
4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, June 5
This bus tour, led by Greenville’s Director of Economic and Community Development, will showcase the creative business and university partnerships that have upgraded higher education in the Greenville community. The tour will feature Greenville Technical College, the Greenville Hospital System’s partnership with the Medical University of South Carolina, the University Center and the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research. Following the tour, participants will be dropped off at hotels.
Housing Strategy Tour
1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday, June 6
After two decades of losing population to amenity-rich suburban
development, Greenville’s population has rebounded, thanks, in part to a well-conceived housing strategy that is welcoming people all back to the City. This bus tour, led by the Greenville’s Community Development Administrator, will leave from the Carolina First Center and will tour a number of neighborhoods, ranging from new neighborhoods featuring affordable homes, infill housing within historic neighborhoods, and high-end downtown condominiums within mixed-use developments. Following the tour, participants will be dropped off at hotels.
